PRIMARY MEMBERS

Claudio Martin Kotormor Norita (MP)
After graduating from Mount Carmel High School in 1984, Claudio "Clyde" Kotomor Norita entered the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) Police Academy graduating with top honors as class valedictorian and began a 20-year career in law enforcement. He also received an A.S. in criminal justice from the Northern Marianas College. Major Norita rose through the ranks in the CNMI Department of Public Safety (DPS), where he eventually obtained the rank of Police Major. In his tenure with DPS, he had various assignments including corrections, patrol, traffic, and criminal investigation. He has held leadership positions in the CNMI Drug Task Force, SWAT/Special Operations, DPS Criminal Investigation, Public Safety Training, Federal Grant Management, Special Services, and as the department's Deputy Commissioner. In 2004, Norita was sworn in as State Congressman in the 14th CNMI Legislature, where he chaired the Federal and Foreign Relations, Special and Investigative Committees and was appointed vice chairman of Judicial and Governmental Operations and Natural Resources Committees. In 2008 he was appointed Commissioner of Public Safety for the Northern Marianas, a position he held until he retired in August 2008.
