Kenya Shantel Lee (MD)
Kenya Lee is the founder and CEO of Parents With PowerTM (PWP), an organization created to promote parent, school, and community collaboration to ensure the academic success of students. Since its inception in 2004, PWP has serviced several schools located in Baltimore, MD. Ms. Lee has served as mentor, educator, advocate, and leader for parents and students alike. While serving as the PTA President of a Baltimore school, Ms. Lee's desire to bridge the gap of the lack of parental involvement within inner schools grew tremendously. The dire need for parental involvement became her mission. She resigned from a position with Baltimore City to devote her life to the purpose and mission of PWP. In 2006, Ms. Lee received an Open Society Institute Fellowship Award to further the growth and development of PWP. The fellowship allowed her to travel and gain knowledge from world-renowned educational advocates and parent leaders, and to study along with others who share her desires and passion. Ms. Lee is an alumna of the Open Society Institute, inspirational speaker/life coach, cofounder of Million Dollar Man Inc., cofounder of Angel Enterprises, Gubernatorial Appointee of the Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention State Advisory Board, and member of the John Hopkins School of Public Health Community Advisory Board.
